Thanks to the contribution of the Rosanero supporters, BKT, title sponsor of the BKT Series, will finance the redevelopment of Piazzale Fausto Pirandello with a new basketball court, five-a-side goals and a volleyball net.
A new project is ready to be redeveloped thanks to Fattore Campo, the social initiative of BKT, title sponsor of the BKT Series, which aims to donate new playing spaces in the cities of the championship. The city of Palermo, winner of the second edition together with Como, will soon see a new area accessible to all citizens in Piazzale Fausto Pirandello.
A success that sees the signing of the rosanero supporters who, by playing in the BKTpremia – the official competition of the BKT Series that allows you to win numerous prizes – have accumulated fundamental points to place the project of the Municipality of Palermo in first place in the special Fattore Campo ranking.
During the last season, Palermo FC has always been at the top of the Fattore Campo standings with its fans who, for all 38 days, contributed in a fundamental way to the final victory. The average number of games recorded is over 580 unique users with a peak of 625 on the 33rd matchday which brought a total of 17,370 Rosanero fans. Furthermore, BKT Tires has decided to celebrate the title of Winter Champions with a special activity dedicated to the project in Piazzale Fausto Pirandello in the pre-match of Palermo FC VS Cagliari. In total, BKTpremia totaled 173,670 games and a remarkable 2,000 prizes distributed between autographed shirts, official championship balls, BKT gadgets and experiences to live together with your club. Numbers that not only testify to how much the competition grows season after season, but above all the passion of Palermitans for their favorite team and for their city.
The Piazzale Fausto Pirandello project, financed by BKT as regards the ludic-sporting aspect and with the collaboration of the Lega Nazionale Professionisti B, will include a new basketball court with the complete renovation of the flooring and the installation of basketball hoops. To make the area a place for socializing and gathering, two five-a-side football goals will also be set up and points will be set up for positioning a volleyball net. Finally, there will be safety interventions and a complete cleaning of the area with the weeding of uncultivated vegetation.
Thanks to the intervention and mediation of the Sports and Sports Facilities Department of the Municipality of Palermo and Palermo FC, the BKT redevelopment project will then be part of a process shared with neighborhood associations and residents for the creation of a safe, clean and accessible place for the whole community. In fact, numerous activities will be planned to accompany the initiative to restore decorum to the entire area. These include the titling of the redeveloped area, which will affect the residents in choosing the name, the creation of small "urban gardens", the decoration of walls and steps with the involvement of schools, associations and individual citizens and the creation of a point for book crossing.
This is how, after Lecce and Cosenza, whose projects were inaugurated this year, another Municipality will soon have its own project financed by BKT which continues with its own initiatives dedicated to the fans, the local area and the cities of the BKT Series. The objective of Fattore Campo, which will reach its third edition with the start of the next championship, is to raise citizens' awareness of respect for shared spaces and the community by using sport as a vehicle for inclusion and socializing.
Dialogues with all the parties involved are already well underway and in full synergy. The common intent will be to make a new safe space available to the city of Palermo, transforming it into a welcoming place to meet and play. The construction sites will start very soon to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the third winning project of Fattore Campo as soon as possible.
Lucia Salmaso, Chief Executive of BKT Europe: "It is with great pride that we take part in this second edition of Fattore Campo, an initiative that highlights the active involvement of fans and their love for local roots and football. Since day one, at BKT we value the positive values that sport is able to promote, values that inspire us to dedicate resources and commitment to significant projects like this. Fattore Campo offers us the opportunity to channel the passion for football to enhance urban spaces such as Piazzale Fausto Pirandello in Palermo, transforming them into places to meet, play and socialize. These places represent the beating heart of our cities, the meeting point for the younger generations, the place where the future takes shape".
Mauro Balata, LNPB President: “As Lega we are proud to be able to announce another important milestone achieved by Fattore Campo with the city of Palermo which, after Lecce and Cosenza, represents a new piece of this wonderful territorial redevelopment puzzle. Thus, the birth of green areas accessible to all represents not only the recognition of the realization of the work but also an impetus towards the future of the city and of the population which recognizes its social significance and importance through the sense of belonging, values of which Lega B is the spokesperson. A project, therefore, which continues in synergy with our title sponsor BKT, whom I would like to thank, and with all the Rosanero supporters who have shown all their love for their colors and their land even in this circumstance".
Giovanni Gardini, Palermo FC Chief Executive: “This collective achievement is proof that passion for one's team can leave the stadiums and change the life of a city and its community. Palermo FC supporters, before being such, are children, mothers, brothers, citizens who belong to a social context: in a word, people. Therefore, it is also the responsibility of football to help improve the lives of these people and raise awareness of what we can do together."
Sabrina Figuccia, Councilor for Sport, Tourism and Youth Policies: "Thanks to the passion of the Rosanero supporters - which allowed Palermo to win the contest organized by BKT with the support of Lega B - a corner of the city forgotten for too long, piazzale Fausto Pirandello, in Borgo Nuovo, will become a showpiece for the entire Palermo community: in fact, the basketball court will be restored and two five-a-side football goals and a volleyball net will be installed. A virtuous example of great social importance, thanks to the redevelopment of a densely populated area which must now become a space which, I hope, will be "adopted" by the community to protect it and avoid any episode of vandalism".
