On the occasion of the match against Bari, scheduled for tomorrow at 20.30 at the Barbera, the Palermo FC players will take the field with mourning on their arms in memory of Biagio Conte, the lay missionary from Palermo who spent his life helping the neediest, who passed away last week due to illness. After the participation of a delegation of players from the first team and the youth sector at last Monday's wake and after the presence of President Mirri at the funeral in the Cathedral, the club will thus pay a final tribute to the legacy of an exemplary Palermitan citizen, who left a void in the city community and beyond.
To go beyond the purely symbolic value, Palermo and its charity partner, the Maredolce association of Ficarra and Picone, Stefania Petyx and Pif, have decided to allocate a large part of the 10,000 euros collected during the Christmas period with the solidarity initiatives of Palermo and intended for people in difficulty in the city's support communities to the "Missione Speranza E Carità" founded by late Biagio Conte.
“With Fratel Biagio Palermo loses a true hero – declared the president Mirri – but the legacy of the heroes is just the example for those who remain. There is a road traced that it is now up to us to take: beyond condolences, the commitment to carry on his concrete work with other concrete works. Only in this way will we be worthy of having him with us".
