Palermo and its players take the field to fight breast cancer, right in October - the month dedicated to the prevention of the most frequent malignancies in women. The Barbera stadium welcomes the "Caravan of Prevention", the National Itinerant Program for the Promotion of Women's Health, jointly promoted by Susan G. Komen Italia with the A. Gemelli University Hospital Foundation IRCCS.
On Saturday 29th October, the Mobile Units of the Prevention Caravan will be hosted at the entrance to the Renzo Barbera stadium, in Piazza del Fante, to offer free early diagnosis exams. And already this Sunday, in the warm-up before the match against Cittadella, the Palermo FC players will wear a special jersey with the iconic Pink Ribbon of Komen Italia, thus becoming "Ambassadors of Prevention".
Through its high-tech Mobile Units, Komen Italia offers free diagnostic tests for the prevention of breast and cervical cancers, specialist consultations, practical physical activity and proper nutrition laboratories for the promoting healthy lifestyles. And so it will also be on 29th October in the Barbera square, from 10.30 to 16.30. To participate in the initiative, you can book at 3273542000 or by email: allottavalentinaas@libero.it.
In its Palermo leg of the tour, the Caravan of Prevention will also be available on 28th October in Petralia Sottana (PA) and on 30th October in Piazza Verdi (Teatro Massimo) in Palermo.
The Caravan of Prevention has so far carried out 579 Women's Health Promotion Days in 17 Italian regions, offering over 50,000 free medical services. Every year over 1.6 million new cases of breast cancer are recorded worldwide, 56,000 of which in our country. When breast cancer is diagnosed early, more than 90% of cases can be cured with less invasive therapies.
On the website www.prevention.komen.it it will be possible to join the campaign, consult the "Prevention Guidelines", receive the pink ribbon and continue to support the activities of the Caravan throughout the year
