Eating disorders (ED) have now assumed considerable social and health relevance, constituting particularly complex psychopathological conditions that affect the quality of life of patients suffering from such conditions (anorexia, bulimia, etc.) with both physical and mental consequences. These conditions can have an impact especially on young people who fall within the pediatric age group up to 18 years of age, in the prime of their development.
For these reasons, Lega B takes the field alongside Fondazione Bambino Gesù, Coldiretti and Campagna Amica to promote the "Il Cibo E' Amico" campaign, supporting the creation of the Centro per lo Studio dei disturbi del comportamento alimentare in età pediatrica (Center for the Study of Eating Disorders in Pediatric Age) of the Bambino Gesù Hospital.
Lega B has thus decided to support the initiative, also following up on the social responsibility project "B come Bambini", as highlighted by president Mauro Balata: "Promoting healthy lifestyles, having a balanced diet and practicing sports are prerogatives of Lega B, always sensitive to social dynamics and close to the young people who represent the future of our society. I would like to thank Fondazione Bambino Gesù, Coldiretti and Campagna Amica for having worked in synergy to ensure an adequate growth path for the many children and young people affected by ED, offering support to their families".
On the occasion of the 37th match day of the Serie BKT Championship, a series of activities have been prepared so that a message of education, prevention and awareness can be spread through LED creativities on all pitches of the tournament, a speaker message before the match and during halftime, but also banners and social posts in order to reach the large audience of fans and enthusiasts who follow the championship.
The activities envisaged by the Center aim to structure a multidisciplinary strategy for the prevention and early diagnosis of eating disorders, spreading a new culture of correct nutrition, through the involvement of families, paediatricians, volunteers and operators in the sector.
In addition to the promotion and awareness campaign, a fundraiser has been opened at the following link so that everyone can offer their contribution to the creation of the Centre.
