Starting from the Palermo VS Cosenza match on 10th April at the Renzo Barbera stadium, "La Scuola allo Stadio" kicks off, the educational project that promotes universal ethical values through sport, intended for schools in the Palermo area, the result of the collaboration between Palermo FC and the Sicilian Regional School Office, with the patronage of the Department of Sport of the Municipality of Palermo.
The new project envisages a path of unique experiences for the kids, which culminates with their presence in the bleachers for the last home matches of Palermo this season, but starts from an ad hoc educational program on the school desks through highly topical themes and social relevance and passes by the Palermo Museum and the guided tour of the Barbera to discover Palermo's sports house.
In particular, the kids involved in the project, guided by their teachers, will first face social issues in the classroom such as racism, social inclusion, equal opportunities between genders, teamwork, the value of defeat as a boost to healthy growth, and many more. Starting from these educational paths, the students themselves will create some themed banners which they will then display at the stadium on the occasion of the next four Palermo home matches, when the more than 1200 small fans involved will color the Barbera steps in support of the Rosanero team, to become ambassadors of positive messages with their own presence.
Sport thus becomes an instrument of social change in the hands of the younger generations, on which hangs the challenge for a more fair world, and the development of a community spirit of solidarity to guarantee the civil rights of all, from the stands of the stadium to everyday life.
"The 'La Scuola allo Stadio' project - said Giuseppe Pierro, Director General of the Sicilian Regional School Office - is a virtuous example of how the school can and must increasingly invest in its role as a workshop to build the world of tomorrow. And the great attraction of sport is thus placed at the service of the social development of the territory. In this inclusive perspective of social responsibility, well beyond the football field, the collaboration with Palermo FC is an excellent sign, which, not by chance, has been carrying out a transversal and multidisciplinary commitment for years, in particular for the benefit of the younger generations".
The initiative will also see the involvement of the youtuber Stefano Piazza who has always been active on the stages of theaters and TV programs, on the web and on the streets of Palermo, with his artistic cut always halfway between comedy and social commitment. The Palermitan comedian will contribute to the dissemination of the initiative with some ad hoc videos, giving voice to the protagonists of the initiative: the children participating in the project, who tell the process of making the banners and their frank point of view on the topics addressed, with the aim of showing how the eyes of children are very often freer and purer than the preconceptions and superstructures of adults.
"La Scuola allo Stadio" will also bring some Palermo FC players to visit some schools involved by the USR in the project, to strengthen the link between sporting passion and civil commitment.
